Why Water Yoga?
Water Yoga is Yoga in chest deep water, where you can practice with the support and resistance of the water.
This relatively new Yoga discipline is very helpful for beginners or people with joint pain, limited flexibility and range of motion- the best pratice for rehabilitation. We believe that every body can practise Yoga in the water.
Also for experienced Yogi’s it is a nice experience and challenge to perform the traditional Asanas, like the sun salutation, in the water in 360 degrees. In our classes we adopt the pratice to your level, so you can profit according to your personal abilities and needs. We combine gentle flows according to your level.
We generally start with some warm up and breathing exercises (Pranayama). You will connect to your breath very easily, because you feel the impact of the filled lungs immediately in the different postures. We can feel our center of gravity and also the center of buoyancy in the different asanas, which helps to practice and hold postures that might be very or too challenging on the mat. The water is supporting and correcting you in the different movements, but also shows you when you are not balanced.
In some exercises we are using floating props or the pool wall for support. In the end we can practise some floating Asanas and a nice floating meditation.
Water Yoga is very beneficial for your nervous system, the flexibility and balance will increase- which will show also in your practise on the mat.
